Saving words

Now let's have no more of this fiscal gloom. What these silly economists need is the verbal dexterity of the makers of Stage 3a water restrictions - our very own state government. All that's required is an enterprising government wordsmith to devise an ecobabble protocol with the capacity to generate an unlimited range of descriptors of stages of economic devolution. This will save us from ever using the 'R' word, and the 'D' word will pass into utter oblivion. If we act now, we can still revel in the familiar orgy of gratuitous retail excess and preserve the true meaning of Christmas.
