1. “Now the rest of the acts of ... are they not written in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of ...” The finer details you can read. But our interest is the state of their heart and its outflow. cf Lk 6:45 2. The truth is always fragile. It’s transmission from one generation to the next requires diligence by parents in conveying to their children not only the content of the Gospel, but the means of holding fast to it in the midst of a godless world. The history of the kings of Israel is a story of a nation who did not heed the Lord’s word to “Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.” (Dt 6:4-7)
